Live on Sky Sports 4: Thu 09:30 & 20:00 Angus Loughran previews the French Open and Greenbrier Classic.
Martin Kaymer missed the cut in Cologne last week but punters have not lost faith in the US Open Winner and he is the 9/1 market leader ahead of this week’s French Open.
The German won the event in 2009 and has finished in the top 20 five times so he clearly loves Le Golf National, the venue for the 2018 Ryder Cup, and he is once again the man to beat.
Thomas Bjorn missed the US Open through injury but had a top ten finish last week and should go well at 22/1 while I like the chances of Jamie Donaldson on a course that suits his game. He’s available at 25/1.
Matt Fitzpatrick finally, has made the cut on his first two starts as a pro and at 100/1 he provides value for each-way backers.
Webb Simpson is my selection at 22/1 to win the Greenbrier Classic over on the PGA Tour .
Playing well at present, Ben Martin was a bit unlucky not to at least have made a play-off last time out so he has a better chance than his 45/1 odds suggest and as experience can be a big help, Nick Watney appears overpriced at 66/1.
The Open Championship is only two weeks away and players will be looking to fine tune their game for Hoylake. It’s likely that we’ll see a return to Major golf for Tiger Woods who was far fom despondent despite missing the cut on his return from injury in Washington last week.
Good luck
Angus Loughran
