Live on Sky Sports 4: Fri: 22:30 Angus Loughran previews this week’s Hyundai Tournament of Champions tournament.
A field of 30 this week in Hawaii all winners on PGA Tour in 2013 for the opening event for 2014 on the only Par 73 course used during the whole season which is a huge advantage to the bigger hitters so it is no surprise that Dustin Johnson is the defending Champion even though last years event was reduced to 54 holes.
It is a Friday start this year and Dustin Johnson at top price 17/2 with Stan James looks sure to make a bold bid to defend his title only Masters Champion Adam Scott at 6/1 and Matt Kuchar at 8/1 are above him in the betting.
There are only 2 Europeans here this week Jonas Blixt and Marin Laird.
The Scot Laird is hard to predict but has decent course form on his two previous visits here 4th in 2010 and runner up in 2012,he has great length and plays really well in the wind which is a huge advantage at The Plantation Course which is so exposed so at 30/1 he looks over the odds here.
Webb Simpson looks sure to give backers a decent run at 10/1 he was 3rd here two years ago and his game is ideally suited to this venue while Gary Woodland who hits it miles will be a popular outsider.
Good luck
Angus Loughran
