Live on Sky Sports 4: Thu 05:00 & 20:00 Angus Loughran previews this week’s Hong Kong Open and Nedbank Challenge tournaments
Although the Hong Kong Open has a full field this week it is very short on quality and three-times winner Miguel Angel Jimenez, who won at 40/1 last year, has a great chance of retaining his title.
Even though the best odds about a victory for the Spaniard are just 9/1, a price that’s not as big as I was hoping for, he is still clearly the man to beat.
Of the outsiders meanwhile, Gregory Havret, at 50/1, chased home Rory McLlroy here two years ago and looks over the odds this week.
Tiger Woods hosts his own event in California this week and at 5/2 to win it for a sixth time, he will be very hard to to beat.
I like the chances of Graeme McDowell, who clearly plays well here and is worth supporting at 12/1 while Webb Simpson, a decent value each-way option at 20/1, should also go well.
Henrik Stenson has enjoyed an amazing run since May and is a clear favourite for Nedbank Challange at 3/1. The Swede has already qualified for the European Team ahead of the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles and will take all the beating here.
Experience of a course like Gary Player Country Club is vital and Sergio Garcia is a regular here having won twice. At 14/1 he looks good value for a shot at a third title while Matteo Manassero may have gone off the boil since winning the BMW at Wentworth in May but is surely overpriced at 80/1 in a small field of 30.
Good luck
