Live on Sky Sports 1 &3, Thu: 10.00 & 20:00 Angus Loughran previews this week’s PGA Championship and Crown Plaza Invitational tournaments.
This weeks BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth is the flagship event on European Tour and with another quality field assembled including whole Ryder Cup side it is easy to see why.
Luke Donald is a worthy 8/1 market leader (Paddy Power) as he chases a Wentworth hatrick which should be a fourtimer after he threw away a winning chance in 2010 and like Tiger he is very much a player who ups his game on certain courses and will be hard to beat.
Sergio Garcia makes a rare UK showing outside the Open Championship and despite his horror finish at recent Players is playing some great golf at present and looks decent value at 16/1 at Ladbrokes
Englishmen have a great record here in recent years and David Lynn at 66/1 looks a real value outsider at betfred after his impressive recent run in America he is a player who just needs a big win to kick on on his career and he has a far better chance than his odds suggest this week while the odds of 66/1 (William Hill) on Paul Casey a winner here in 2009 have also tempted me as his chances are much better than that with most bookies offering 6 places to each way backers here.
If Luke Donald loves Wentworth then the same can be said about Zach Johnson at Colonial and at top price 15/1 (Stan James) he has to be include this week and in each way doubles with Donald at Wentworth it is big value!
Tim Clark appeals to me as a lively outsider here at 50/1 (betvictor) he is playing better than those odds suggest and should go well while Bud Cauley at 150/1 with Skybet is another of Americas young guns who has reached his full potential but looks big each way value.
It promises to be a great golfing week on both sides of Atlantic with Englands Only Golfing event of 2013 the highlight for so many here.
Good luck
Angus Loughran
