Tiger Woods who did us a big favour when winning at Doral at 12/1 a week last Sunday bids to win The Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill this week for an amazing 8th time. It is easy to see why he is market leader but even with his amazing record 3/1 (William Hill) is on the short side although he will be hard to beat he will have to drive far better than he did in Miami where his putting was best we have seen for a while. Woods is regarded as a certainty for Augusta by much of the American Media and although he is currently playing well he is nowhere near the form that saw him dominate the game in 2000 but has the added incentive of returning to World Number One if he wins this week something he will be VERY aware of a saver against other bets is my advice this week because his record at Bay Hill is too good to ignore.
Last year Graeme McDowell chased home Tiger but he was a distant 2nd he is a great price at 22/1 (Bet365) to go one better here with most bookies offering 1/4 1,2,3,4,5 although some paying 6 places. McDowell at present is playing some great golf at the moment and loves this course he lives local and won’t be lacking support from those at Lake Nona he has a big chance this week and he looks over the odds.
Of the others Bubba Watson The Masters Champion is good value at 30/1 with Coral while Russell Henley at 125/1 with Stan James one of those paying six places also looks value.
One of the most strangest decisons of the season so far is Luke Donald deciding to play Malaysian Open this week he is 11/2 (Betfred) market leader to make the long trip worthwhile and providing his jet lag isn’t too bad he is the man to beat along with South African Charl Schwartzel available at 6/1 (Ladbrokes). Matteo Manaserro at 14/1 (StanJames) will love this course and should go well while Rafa Cabrera-Bello looks a big price at 28/1 (Betvictor), while I am sure Tommy Fleetwood is going to pop up shortly at a decent price and he looks over the odds at 66/1 (Skybet) here having performed with credit in India last week.
