Live on Skysports 3: Thu 20.00: Angus Loughran previews this week’s BMW Championships, live from Crooked Stick. Selections.
The BMW Championship at Crooked Stick this week looks like being a thriller and Tiger Woods, 15/2 with Coral and Betfred, is the man to beat. Woods may not have won last Monday but his smile walking off at 18 when finishing 3rd without a bogey in the final round told you everything – he is happy with his game at present and ready to win again.
Rory Mcllroy did well to win on Monday and is 7/1 market leader (BetVictor) and is clearly the one to beat but I fancy Tiger to get the better of the young Irishman this week.
Dustin Johnson must have been delighted to have got a Ryder Cup Wildcard and should go well at 14/1 (Paddy Power) and having won here two years ago clearly loves the course. Of the outsiders I like Ryan Moore at 80/1 (Blue Square) and Geoff Ogilvy, who looks over priced each way at 70/1 with Paddy Power.
William Hill offer 11/8 on Europe winning The Ryder Cup following confirmation of the USA team on Tuesday with the hosts 8/11 favourites to regain it (Ladbrokes). This looks like being another classic in Medinah later this month with a tie enough for Europe to retain The Cup – that’s sure to be popular at 11/1 at bet365.
Good luck
Angus Loughran
