Former Talksport man Charlie McCann tips up Sunday’s racing at Doncaster and also Salisbury. View Selections below
On Sunday Rosie Probert (2.30) can break her maiden tag at the second attempt at Doncaster for Roger Charlton; the filly was weak in the market but shaped with considerable promise at Salisbury last month and connections will be keen to get a win into her for breeding purposes.
Kimberella (3.00) improved on his Newmarket debut when runner up at Goodwood last time and can put those experiences to good effect in the 6f juvenile maiden. Jamie Spencer gets the leg over on Sunday and is taken to make plenty of use of the 2-y-old who was coming back at the winner at Goodwood last time.
At Salisbury the feature could also go to the stable of Roger Charlton and Definightly (4.00) who loves soft ground and ran a cracker over an inadequate trip on his reappearance at Newmarket; Haydock winner Our Jonathan and Richard Hannon’s Libranno are big dangers and have a bit in hand on official BHA figures but the selection can make all in a terrific renewal.
Royal Ascot gets under way on Tuesday and Frankel is the star on show in the opening Queen Anne Stakes; the word from Newmarket is that trainer Henry Cecil wants his unbeaten 4-y-old to put on a show with the Aussie super mare Black Caviar strutting her stuff next Saturday in the Diamond Jubilee. Frankel is unbackable to win the race but don’t be surprised if he wins by more than 5 lengths which is currently 9/4 at BetVictor.
Wizz Kid is the opening day nap for France in the King’s Stand Stakes; the filly will appreciate any further rain and at 8/1 can reward each way support. She was just below top class last year but could hardly have been more impressive at Chantilly on her latest start; there is a concern that she will prove better over 6f later in the year but she should have the race run to suit and must go close.
