Betrescue’s Bruin Brown from Betfair is backing over 2.5 goals at Southampton, the draw between Spurs and Chelsea and laying Crawley in this week’s Bruin’s Shoo-Ins
So I moved into my new pad (I’ve been calling it a pad but it hasn’t been received too well so far, I might drop that, we’ll see) this week. And let me tell you, it is good to get my own space again. I had a few friends around for dinner on Thursday and they all seemed to have a good evening. They were particularly impressed with my impersonation of my new doorbell. I had to be pushed to do it though.
Every granny and their cat will be having a bet this weekend and expect your local betting shops to be busier than the job centre. But lets face it, sophisticated punters such as you and I haven’t set foot inside a bookies since Liverpool were a good side.
The two FA Cup semi-finals take centre stage this weekend with a Merseyside derby on Saturday followed by a London derby on Sunday. It’s the latter that I am more interested in as a betting prospect.
Tottenham v Chelsea: Sunday: FA Cup Semi Final 18:00 Live on ITV1
Three of the last four and five of the last nine matches between Spurs and Chelsea have ended in a draw. Now I’m not one for backing the draw usually but with all the furore about the scheduling of this match, and its proximity to Chelsea’s midweek Champions League game against Barcelona, I get the feeling that it is written in the stars that this one will go to extra time. Betfair layers are offering odds of 3.5 (5/2) on the teams to be locked together at the end of the 90 minutes on Betfair.com
Southampton v Reading: Friday: Championship: 19:45 Live On SS1
No doubting the big game of the weekend in the Championship as top plays second when Reading go to St Mary’s to take on Southampton. Billed as a title decider both of these teams can go into the match in buoyant mood and confident that they’ll be playing Premier League football next season. Although I doubt either manager will admit as much.
Instead of trying to pick out a winner in what is expected to be an even contest, however, we’ll have a punt on the goals markets. Reading have scored 10 goals in their last four away matches and Southampton have scored an average of just under 2.1 goals per game on their home patch this season. Available to back at odds of 2.04, over 2.5 goals is a shoo-in at betfair
Crawley v Wimbledon: Saturday: League Two: 15:00
We were able to oppose a depleted Crawley Town at odds-on prices last week, and it paid dividends. And I like the idea of doing so again as The Reds look to come to terms with losing manager Steve Evans to Rotherham in the week.
The so-called new-manager effect often leads punters into blindly backing a team. But for me that theory should only be considered when a manager is sacked and replaced. When a manager leaves a club with them battling for promotion it can have the opposite effect.
AFC Wimbledon aren’t in great form but their six away wins this season suggest that they are capable of catching Crawley off guard. Lay the home side at odds of 1.5 (1/2) here at betfair
