Betrescue’s Bruin Brown from Betfair is laying Wolves and backing Southend and Rangers in this week’s Bruin’s Shoo-Ins
“Broken Britain” used to be a term that would have me recoiling in cringe induced horror. Now it’s the only phrase in my head. I spent nearly two hours queuing at my local Esso garage yesterday, and when I finally got inside there was only one cheese and onion Ginsters pasty left. Bloody pasty tax.
One out of three winning Shoo-Ins last week was a disappointing return but the glorious weather meant I wasn’t too downbeat. As the final bet went down with Rangers beating Celtic I decided to take a seat on a bench and crack open a beer… I got quite a few funny looks from the other guys at the gym though.
Wolves v Bolton: Premier League: Saturday: 15:00
Bolton go to Wolves for this weekend’s relegation six-pointer and defeat for the home side could sentence them to Championship football next season.
Some lax defending condemned Wanderers to the fourth consecutive defeat of Terry Connor’s reign at Carrow Road last weekend; Grant Holt’s winner being the 16th goal that they have conceded in five games. They also haven’t won at Molineux since early December and have lost a total of 10 home games in the league this season.
Bolton, on the other hand, are picking up important results at pivotal junctures. A win here would make it three in a row against fellow relegation contenders, but we’ll play it safe and go for a lay of Wolves at prohibitively short odds of 2.4 (11/8) for a shoo-in on Betfair.
Southend v Cheltenham: League Two: Friday 19:45
It’s rare that I delve into League Two for betting selections, but sometimes there are opportunities that are just too good to turn down. Cheltenham haven’t won in their last six matches, losing four and drawing two, and they’ve lost their last three on the road.
Their opponents this Friday evening are a Southend side looking to get back on track for an automatic promotion spot after losing their last two. Manager Paul Sturrock has iterated the importance of winning their remaining four home games and I believe that they are very good value to do so at odds of 2.3 (5/4) on Betfair.
Motherwell v Rangers: SPL: Saturday 12:00: Live on ESPN
Rangers’ players managed to give their fans something to cheer about at the end of a dreadful season when they stopped Celtic from winning the title at Ibrox last Sunday. The result only delayed the inevitable in terms of The Hoops getting their hands on the silverware, but it may also have lifted the players, and supporters, out of the doldrums.
Although it won’t help with their immediate local pride, finishing second in the SPL, having incurred a 10 point deduction, would do an awful lot for their national pride. This week’s game against Motherwell at Fir Park, therefore, becomes a vitally important one.
Rangers have won their last four matches against Motherwell by an aggregate scoreline of 17-0, and they’ve won their last seven in all competitions against the North Lanarkshire club.
Considering those damning statistics the 2.34 (11/8) on a Rangers victory seems too good to turn down at betfair.com
