Severe weather warnings were issued on Thursday as high winds ripped through the country. Unconfirmed reports claim that the gusts started at around 10pm on Wednesday night following gale force laughter from Merseyside.

Yep, whodathunkit? Manchester Untied and Manchester City crashed out of the Champions League and were relegated to battle it out in the relative shantytowns of the Europa League. Consequently sending Channel 5’s share prices through the roof.

Man United v Wolves: Premier League: Kick Off 3pm Saturday
Live On Setanta
Worse still for United was the loss of Nemanja Vidic to injury, the big Serb has been crucial to their recent run of clean sheets in the Premier League. Fortunately, however, their next game is against a relatively poor Wolves side who cannot keep a clean sheet for love nor money, nor even a packet of luxury Fox’s biscuits; I’m reliably informed that Mick McCarthy has used the confectionary of kings in an attempt to inspire his defenders.

A United backlash could mean that they quite comfortably break the 2.5 goals threshold on their own, and without Vidic in the side there’s a good chance Wolves could also get on the scoresheet. Back Over 2.5 goals at odds of 1.65 (4/6) with Betfair.

Barnsley v Ipswich: Championship: Kick Off 5.20pm Saturday
Live On Sky Sports 2
In the Championship Ipswich manager Paul Jewell has pleaded with fans to “have a little patience”. Telling fans that he needs time, before going on to say that his heart is numb and has no feeling and so while he’s still healing, the fans should just try and have a little patience.

The Tractor Boys should never forget where they were before Jewell took over and relit their fire. I just pray that one day they’ll be back for good and can once again rule the world.

This weekend they meet a Barnsley side in tiptop form – four consecutive victories – and for all Jewell’s promises they may need to wait a little longer before they begin to shine. Back Barnsley to win at odds of 2.1 (11/10) with Betfair.

Hibs V Rangers: Scottish Premier: Kick Off 12.30pm Saturday
North of the border there is a debate rumbling on following Sone Aluko’s two-match ban for diving. Ally McCoist stating that he was “shocked and extremely angry” that the ban had been upheld by the appeal committee.

In my opinion he has got off lightly, I once got a lifetime ban for diving. The committee said it was not appropriate for a man of 30 years to be somersaulting into the hotel’s Jacuzzi. Cheeky buggers, I was only 29 at the time.

Rangers play Hibs this Saturday and should have enough to see off the struggling Edinburgh side. However, they haven’t been firing on all cylinders lately – just two goals scored in their last three games – so may have to settle for a narrow win. Back Under 2.5 goals here at odds of 2.0 (Evens) at betfair.com
